This site is evolving as I experiment with new ideas and features. Stay tuned—there’s much more to come in the next few weeks.
You’ve probably heard of the infinite monkey theorem: given endless time, a monkey typing randomly could produce all of Shakespeare’s works. But what happens when we give an ape (that’s me) a computer and a finite amount of time? Welcome to Finite Ape.
I’ve got an insatiable curiosity and a tendency to dive headfirst into whatever grabs my attention. This blog is where I untangle complex ideas for my own sake, but I also hope to connect with others who enjoy thinking about the same problems.
My interests are broad, but they generally fall into these categories:
- Mathematics & Logic: Mathematics, game theory, logic, and the theory of computation make the top of the list.
- Philosophy & History: Mostly analytical philosophy and whatever historical contexts pique my interest.
- Science & Technology: Evolution, linguistics, machine learning, and causal inference. I also tinker with small board computers and make some apps for myself.
As I explore these subjects, I’ll jot down my thoughts here. I’m writing to satisfy my own curiosity, and if you find value in it, perhaps you’re as intrigued by the complexities of the world (or the mind) as I am. Maybe reach out? I’ll get around to adding an email or contact form soon.1
And just so we’re clear—this won’t be a place for “10 best bullet journal ideas for 2025.” I still don’t know what bullets have to do with journals. I’ll also try to spare you my fermentation and baking experiments, but I can’t promise anything.
You might get the occasional book nerding post. And you may also have to deal with footnotes that compete with the main text. Thankfully, the theme should make them easy to ignore—or, if they get too unwieldy, some might graduate into posts of their own.
Just wanted to give you a heads-up about what you’re getting into.
